It is in our nature to feel sad, angry and hopeless when confronted with the terrible things people have done and continue to do to each other. However, as adults we have the responsibility to remind our children that the human experience is also glorious and beautiful and reverent.
Therefore we invite teachers, students and parents to participate in a dedication of our activities during the annual Hanami Cherry Blossom Viewing at at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Each person will have the opportunity to express his or her gratitude for the beauty life has bestowed upon us.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is particularly appropriate because it is open to all and is an expression of the civic and democratic tradition of the American Spirit. It is situated in a borough that has welcomed immigrants from around the world and it has a beautiful Japanese garden that celebrates the annual Japanese tradition of Hanami, or Cherry Blossom viewing.
